MEET KATHLEEN.

Kathleen Plate is an Atlanta-based custom jewelry designer who started Smart Glass Jewelry in 1990, five years before Amazon was even a “thing.” As a self-reliant business owner, she has successfully launched wholesale, direct-to-consumer and retail businesses with word-of-mouth being her primary form of marketing. 

Kathleen showed signs of creativity at an early age when she first started creating beautiful pieces of art out of old, reusable scraps.

“I grew up in a house powered by solar panels, so I was raised to appreciate the value of recycled materials before being eco-friendly became a trend.”

Fast forward 26 years and Kathleen has successfully transformed her gift-making hobby into a sophisticated technique that has caught the attention of some big name brands — like AvedaChick-fil-a and Coca-Cola.
